My mom mows the grass for this old lady who lives down our street, and when she went over there she found that there were all of these little violas growing in the lawn so she pulled as many as she could up by the roots so they wouldn't get mowed over. She planted them in this little hanging planter someone was giving away where she works. Free flowers and free planter are not a bad deal at all.
Now we have a bunch of violas in little vases around the house.
I don't think they could get much cuter.

May 29th
Ha sooo we visited Chris' parents' house for a little bit and since his brother's stag had just happened before, his mom had made all of these tea sandwiches, and had a lot left over. So we 'helped her out' by taking a bag full of them. Tea sandwiches are probably my most favorite food in the world. Much much better than regular sized sandwiches if you ask me.

We made a trip to Value Village out of boredom tonight and I saw these embroidered pansies. I, of course, thought they were adorable :) Gonna have to try embroidering some of my own...

Ahh yes, here's how I found Chris when I got home from work, sanding away at the desk he bought that I mentioned in yesterday's post. It looked pretty cool with the dust all lit up in the sunlight.

Chris and I were bored today so we went to Stittsville and the Flea Market happened to be open, unusual for a Saturday. Chris kept going on about how comfortable Crocs were so he bought me a pair for $3... they are boys', army camouflage pattern... how cool right? Not only that, they fit me perfectly and yet they say they are size 2.5-3 (seriously?). I always thought I was a size 4 in boys' shoes hahaha. Oh well. So we also went to this feed&seed place next to the flea market and saw some cool vegetables and plants. Chris got a green grape plant which we have yet to do anything with.
We saw these weird furry red things, I just saw them in a plant book the other day but I can't remember what they're called. But they were really cool, and fuzzy.
I loved these little pink and yellow flowers :)
And these white ones were really nice too :)
Later that day we were pretty busy. Went to a garage sale on the next street over that had a whole bunch of really nice old stuff. Best garage sale I've ever been to by far. This guy had been collecting those little bottles of alcohol when he was younger, he said he stopped collecting 30 years ago and he had quite the collection. We bought like 20 of the bottles. I'll have to take some pictures and add them later. We also bought a Singer sewing machine from 1949, and a banker's desk, from the 50s, which Chris is working on refinishing... and a lovely little cookie tin with a beautiful pattern on it. My mom went too and I convinced her to buy this little metal tricycle thing that goes in your garden and holds a plants which was adorrrable. We bought lots more but you know...
Later we went to my friend's bonfire because she is moving June 1st and wanted to have one last fire at her old house. But we had to leave early to go to Chris' brother's stag&doe party. So all in all it was a really long day. (Not to mention we ended up driving all the way home and didn't get back til 4:30 am!)

I took Archie down to this little creek on our street today to swim because he wasn't too happy in the heat. Usually I'd throw a stick for him and he goes crazy chasing after them and bringing them back, but we had trouble finding any at all so I was throwing reeds which he would jump in after but then couldn't figure out where they were because they were too small.
So of course when I finally found a stick he went and grabbed it and then immediately took it to the other side of the creek and started chewing on it. He would not come back over and I thought he was acting kind of weird cause I could kind of see him through the tall grass just sitting there with his head down, not actually chewing on the stick. So anyways I finally got him to come back over and we started walking home.
As we were walking Archie seemed really weird. Then he kept putting his head down and pawing at his mouth. And I realized he had gotten a little piece of stick stuck across the roof of his mouth between his teeth. He would not let me help and just kept stepping on my hand with one paw and using his other paw to uselessly swipe at his mouth.
Well I finally got the stick out and he was okay but I felt pretty bad for my poor stupid dog lol. He was pretty pissed.

Today was my friend's birthday. She's quite a bubbly girl so for her present I decided to use an idea I found on Pinterest for a "Box of Sunshine" - a cute little gift from Happy Money Saver.
For the box I bought a pretty big decorative box from the dollar store, and I had planned to wrap the box and lid in bright yellow wrapping paper. But I couldn't find any on short notice so I used the next best thing - Tinkerbell wrapping paper. This worked for me because my friend loves Tinkerbell. But if you're going to make it for someone you should probably find the yellow stuff lol...
I also found the perfect big yellow bow to stick on and for the card, I happened to have some blank note cards with a sun on them. On the inside I wrote "Happy Birthday Little Miss Sunshine".
For the gifts - they were all mostly yellow. I put yellow tissue paper in the bottom. I got her a yellow Bacardi Breezer (you could just put lemonade in if you're doing it for a kid or someone who doesn't drink). I put in yellow pixie sticks, marshmallow bananas, lemon drops, yellow jelly beans, a yellow push pop, this yummy beach-scented yellow soap I bought from a flea market vendor, various other yellow candies, and a personal birthday cake bag (I'll explain below). I also had to add a little pink because I wanted to get her a sash that said Princess (so her), and they only came in pink.
So this little gift was my idea, a personal birthday cake bag. I thought it would be awesome for her to be able to have a little birthday moment when I gave her the present. So I made a little cupcake-in-a-cup, and put that in a cellophane bag with two candles (a "2" and a "0" for "20"), a lighter (pink and yellow to go with the theme, I also put her name on it in rhinestones, she smokes but if your gift-getter doesn't you could just put a match in there to light the candles), and a spoon for her to eat the cake.
I got the idea for this little cupcake-in-a-cup off Pinterest too. I was originally just going to make mini cupcakes and put one inside a cup to keep the icing from getting wrecked, but then I couldn't find my mini cupcake pan and I was in a rush so I decided to use this idea for parfait cupcakes off La Casserole Carrée. Lucky for me the plastic cups I had fit the bottom of the cupcake perfectly. You can't bake in these cups obviously so I baked my cupcakes in the little paper wrappers. Then I put the bottom of one cupcake into my cup, sliced of the top (which doesn't fit in), put a layer of pink icing, put in another cupcake bottom, sliced off the top, and put a layer of yellow icing and sprinkles. It was super easy :)
And of course being a lovely girlfriend I made a "heart-shaped" (more like blob shaped) cupcake with the leftover batter for Chris.
For the day we all went out to breakfast at Rockin' Johnny's and then to The Spa for pedicures. It was sooo nice there. But equally expensive. They did a really really good job.
I got Elephantastic Pink on my toes. OPI has such weird nail colour names... Thanks A Wind Million was one of my favourites, along with Hot and Spicy (an orangy pink).
Then we all went to Boston Pizza for dinner and drinks. Chris met us after he finished work. He paints heavy machinery and I noticed that he had a heart shaped mark from primer on his arm :) So of course I made him let me take a picture of it lol. How cool!

Not much today.
Took Archie for a walk down the new road they put in in our neighbourhood. Thought this little creek looked lovely.
And while looking in the back of my cupboard I found these colourful bendy straws that I bought to take camping a while back and forgot about. Wewww :)

Mmmm new soaps and a lovely sunny day.
I got some of these Fight Club soaps for Chris' birthday off Clean JellyBean on Etsy. They smell sooo good.
And good old pear scented soap from the drug store. Yummy.
So I was hanging some laundry on the clothesline and stop for like a second and a half to take a picture...
And when I turn back to the shirt I'm hanging there is already a little spider on it...
Then I realize there's another spider on the clothespin beside me. Jeeze I guess clotheslines are prime real estate for hungry little spiders. Can't blame 'em really.
